30 Day Snap | Day 19

Andddddddd that's a wrap!!
Nine months of hard slog over! Amen!

This time last year I had no idea I would be a college student three months later.  Later, that August (the last week to be precise), I got up one morning and took a look at my career path and realised I needed to go to college.  That same day I enrolled and got accepted.  I started the following week.

I was amazed at how the situation unfolded.  It still amazes me when I think about it.  It was a tough course; drama, staffing issues and a lot of unprofessional behaviour.  Sadly, all of that had an affect on the coursework and the pupils.  However,  I learnt a great deal.  Not just about the topics but about myself and life in general.

It was interesting to experience stress.  My interactions with people were tested to their limits at times.  From my experience I learnt lessons about relationships with others.  Something I would not have been privy to, had I not been in that environment.  Although, I met some lovely people on the course, some of whom I can call friends :)  Experience, experience, experience!  That's what it all comes down to haha.

It is not always easy being a student, whatever your age.  Although I think maturity helps when it comes to group dynamics and willingness to put in extra work.

I am so so proud of myself for completing the course.  I am so thankful to those who have helped me reach my goal- they definitely know who they are!

If there is something you want to do, go for it!  Keep the faith and don't look back!! You can definitely do it, and it's never to late.

Much love to you all xxx

30 Day Snap | Day 16

This looks like movie night, but actually it's last minute coursework night.  I didn't even finish the bowl of popcorn because I fell asleep!  That was my attempt at making work exciting...sad times eh.

30 Day Snap | Day 2

This has been my view all day.  These days college work has consumed my life totally.  It seems to have gotten more so towards the end of the course  As well as that the stress has intensified.

I never thought going to college would take over my life to this extent.  I rarely go out or do anything fun.  My time has been swallowed by coursework and revision.  But mainly coursework.  I can have up to 6 or 7 assignments due in one week.  I currently have 7 due in for tomorrow.

I am so, so tired.  I do not remember the last time I had a good nights sleep.  There have been a couple of nights I haven't even been to bed.  Those situations are very hard to deal with as I still have to get up in the morning for college and also get my little people ready.  My mojo has left me on more than one occasion; there are times when I just want to jack it all in.  I have actually jumped up and said 'fuck it' a few times.  I am just so tired, did I mention tired??  The pressure of all the work is immense.  There are some days I cannot go out as I have work to do.  I am starting to detest my house because I spend so much time in it!!  Not to mention that my back and muscles ache because I am always sitting in the same damn place!!!  The stress has affected me in a way I have never felt before and it is really not nice.  The physical symptoms of stress can make you think you are ill.  The anxiety makes you feel like you will never be happy again.  I wouldn't wish it on anyone.

I am not sure how other people on my course are feeling but I know this has all been an issue for me.  I don't see anyone else struggling like myself but too be honest I am not concerned about that.  However, I am not sure if others see how its affecting me.  I feel like its written all over my face; in my tired eyes and my angry walk.  My priority is to just get through these last couple of weeks.  I am eager to get back to my life.  To see my friends and family.  Some of whom I have not seen in nearly a year.  I want to spend my time outdoors exploring the world, dancing in the street and eating marshmallows.  I just want to feel happy again.

This should be my last hard night of work.  I really thank God that this will be over soon.

If anyone of you are dealing with stress and anxiety or pressures from studying or there is anything I have mentioned that resonates with you, please feel free to email me - peachy8686@gmail.com

Spending Time is Precious #2

I am one of those people who has their finger in so many pies, that even though they know they have no fingers left they will still buy more pies.  Confused? Me too.

This week, I really want to focus on a couple of things and do them well.  I have so much going on and a to-do list as long as my leg.  But I realise nothing will get done if I do not stop buying pies.

Quality over quantity.

I will be picking three important tasks to start and finish during this week.  One of them will definitely be coursework, another will be to select a book and finish it before moving on to another - I usually read 2/3 books at a time- but I am not sure what the last task will be.  Everything else will have to wait until next week.  It will be interesting to see how swiftly my chosen task get done while I am not directing my attention to anything else.

I have also made up my mind to use my phone less this week.  I have deleted a couple of time consuming apps and turned the phone on silent; in the evening I put my calls on divert while I am studying.

So let's see how this goes!  I am actually looking forward to this.  Hopefully in doing less my mind ill be less cluttered and overactive.

Any ideas of how I can ensure my attention span does not sway from the tasks at hand?  Any ideas welcome!

Have a wonderful week everyone xxx

P.S The pies are cherry flavour.

Just a note about....Stress.

Lets stress take us to somewhere scenic as we meditate and let it fall away.

It is that time of year, coming up to the end of the academic year;  the last of the exams, coursework, assignments.  All of this plus pressure from teachers and tutors.  It can be extremely stressful.

In an ideal world we would have planned our time successfully, received copious amounts of support from teachers and have caring classmates to aid us in our periodic meltdowns.  This is not always the case though is it?

The end of the year can actually seem more stressful than the beginning!  Of course this will not be the case for everyone.  And even if it is, it may affect everyone differently.  No one will completely understand how something affects you, but there are those that will try and that is all that matters.

Hang on in there, not long to go now.  Think of the rewards at the end.  Think of the free time you will have after completing your work.  Fantasise about all the things you can do upon your educational release.  Write down how you feel.  Talk to someone who cares.  Elbow your teachers for more support, after all it is their job!  You will definitely learn some lessons for next time.  Whether it be realising how you can better manage your time, or learning of coping strategies.

Last but not least. Never, ever give up.

To everyone taking exams, I wish you all the best.
To those submitting the last of their coursework, keep going and well done.
To anyone suffering with stress, sending you lots of love and light.

The end is nigh!

Much love, Peachy x

Saturday Fun!

Happy Saturday World!!!

Today I would like to be doing something so fun I could cry.  However, the actual task I am doing is even better.  Take a guess?  No its beyond delightful.  I'll tell you; coursework!!!  (I'm sure that was your next guess).

Yes, today it is just me and the human skeleton.  Oodles of fun.  A whole day dedicated to textbooks and 1500 words- plus ten percent- of skeletal make up and muscles fibres.

Some light reading.

I am hoping for a smooth ride as I would love to go to bed before 12am.  Ambitious, I know, but where there is a will there is a way. So, I am sitting comfortably, headphones in, laptop on lap surrounded by textbooks....And I am blogging??  Right.

Wish me luck everyone!  I pray you all have a blessed Saturday, whether it be queuing up for roller-coaster rides, doing the weekly shop or skipping in fields of gold, have a good one and enjoy every moment.

Much love!

Let's have a blessed week!

Happy Monday!

Another start to, another week (although, I am sure we are all still in Easter weekend mode).  As I get ready to get stuck into my last few weeks at college.  I'm contemplating how the academic year has gone , and how the next few weeks will pan out.  While this year has been a real learning curve for me, I am really, really looking forward to completing the year (academically).  Access courses are definitely not for the faint-hearted!

With that in mind, here is my goal and positive thought for the week.

Goal- Put 150% effort into the last of my assignments.

Positive thought- Spend ten minutes each morning reciting positive affirmations about the day ahead.  How can I get what I want from my day without putting it to the Universe?  If I don't dictate what I want through words, my subconscious thoughts and reactions will...this may or may not be a good thing.

What is your goal this week?  What thoughts are going to enhance your life while you go about your daily doings?  Let me know how your week goes :)

Lots of love. Peach x

Spending time is precious.

For the past three/four weeks I have been avoiding doing my coursework.  And I mean avoiding in the sense that I find other more enjoyable tasks to partake in, when I should be concentrating on my studies; classic procrastination.
Although, I do complete my work in the end, the journey to get it done is so long winded!  I evaluate how I've spent my time and regret not doing priority tasks sooner.  My procrastination activities are always the same- Snapchat with my friends and other time consuming apps, playing Sims, catching up on my shows on the iPad and reading.
This week I have decided to try to eradicate these distractions.  I came across this on Instagram-

We all have the same 24 hours, but how is it some manage to do more than others??
Why do we always state that 'there are not enough hours in the day'?

Isn't it funny how we always make time for pleasurable activities but don't seem to have enough time when it comes to doing the things we NEED to do.  This is definitely true for me!

I know I need to spend my time wisely.  I want to achieve more than I currently do and I have no doubt that it's possible.  I congratulate myself on being able to recognise that I need to change this aspect of my life.

So this week, I have pledged to avoid avoiding my priority tasks.  I'll organise my time to fit in all that I need to do, then slot in leisure activities in my remaining time.  And I will definitely be turning my phone off during study mode!

So, it's goodbye procrastination; hello advancement.
How are you procrastinating? Do you spend your time wisely?

Love. xx
